Russia will carry out aggressive
policy concerning Georgia, the Chairman of parliamentary committee on defense
and national safety George Baramidze considers. The Member of Parliament
declared that last step of Russia on introduction of a discrimination visa
routine with Georgia is clear confirmation of Russia, having refused to issue
visa routine to unrecognized Republics Abkhazia and South Ossetia, openly showed
to entire world community their disregard to sovereign rights of the neighboring
state, that actually means temporarily annexation is not under the control of
the central authorities of the Georgian territories. George Baramidze considers
infringement of sovereign rights of Georgia and effort of Russia on creation of
artificial obstacles during withdrawal of the military bases from territory of
Georgia, groundlessly asserting that 15 years are necessary for end of this
process. The Member of Parliament considers it as display of aggressive policy
of Russia and the invalid accusations of support of the Chechen Mujahideen by
Georgia. Georgia is not interested to support separatism on Caucasus as this
problem disturbs it much more than Russia, George Baramidze told.
One of leaders of the Republican party, political scholar Ivlian
Haindrava sees similarity between the relation of the Kremlin to Georgia in 1989
and now. In interview with a number of Georgian Mass-Media, he told that
transfer of power in Russia to the one embodying imperial thinking of the comer
from KGB, Vladimir Putin has resulted in toughening the Russian policy in
relation to Georgia." This is the modernized continuation of that what
proceeded at the end of 80", - he told. "The Georgian authorities
worthlessly squandered 12 years after April tragedy, could not limit the
influence of Russia as was done in Baltic States", - asserts Ivlian
Haindrava. In his opinion, today authorities of the country also are not
prepared for toughening the Russian policy as it was in April 1989, when the
Kremlin applied force to disperse the meeting in Tbilisi. As he said, both
political, and economic pressure of Moscow upon Georgia today is noticeable."
The same "Itera" even if not Red Army, but something very similar",
- as told by him. At the same time, authorities of Georgia do not divide
pessimisms of the opponents. The President of Georgia Edward Shevardnadze
considers that his government is doing maximum of that, if state resources allow
political peace in the present situation.
