Death
of Combrig (Commander of Brigade)
Nizhegorodskaya
province. In the city Bogorodsk, a
commander of Shumilovskaya brigade of the Provolzhsk district of internal troops,
Colonel Nikolai Karpovich was brutally killed.
Two
versions of the crime were suggested from the beginning in the militia: street
hooliganism and a common robbery assault. The
Chechen trace was not disregarded either---N. Karpovich had recently returned
from another journey to Chechnya. For
the valor and courage that he displayed during military operations, the colonel
was recommended for the Order of Courage. However, the military past of N. Karpovich, who was appointed
2 months ago the commander of Sumilovskaya brigade, was not involved here.
Investigation group, which consisted of all the “force” men of the
region, found the track of the criminals. These
turned out to be three young Bogorodsk dwellers, one of whom is a drug addict
according to the information of militia workers.
As the results of preliminary investigation show, the assault against the
brigade commander was made for mercenary ends around midnight near a local night
bar. The malefactors beat N.
Karpovich with a bras-knuckle, inflicted several knife-wounds and, then, took
watches, a chain and a golden ring off the bleeding victim.
The criminals also needed for some reasons the medal with a personal
number of the officer. The
investigation of this loud crime is still continuing.
Prosecutor of Nizhegorodskaya province Aleksandr Fedotov is heading the
investigation group.
