Ismail Abu Shanab, one of the prominent Hamas’ leaders, has opined that
Zionist premier Ariel Sharon’s arrogant aggressive and intensive intentions
were the fruit of unlimited American support.
Abu
Shanab, who was commenting on terrorist Sharon’s decision allowing Jews and
foreigners to enter the holy Aqsa Mosque, said, “the decision comes at a time
of Arab slackness in supporting the Aqsa intifada, which was waged to reflect
the Palestinian people’s rejection of any infringement on Al-Quds when that
terrorist (Sharon) tried to desecrate the Aqsa Mosque by entering it under
protection of occupation soldiers.”
He
pointed out that the Palestinian people were still paying the price of
protecting Al-Quds, holy shrines and national rights. Hence, he concluded,
Sharon’s threats were not directed to the Palestinian people, “who are
practicing their role in confronting his schemes,” but rather posed as a
challenge to the Arab and Islamic Nation.
“From
the land of Palestine we warn our Nation of the imminent dangers and appeal to
it to join the resistance project through whatever it deems fit and not to
remain silent towards the new crimes,” Abu Shanab elaborated.
He
said that any aggression on the Aqsa Mosque was an aggression on the whole Arab
and Islamic Nation. He affirmed that his Movement would perform its duty in
confronting Sharon’s plots and would not hesitate in offering sacrifices for
that sake.
The
Arab and Islamic Nation should act to defend the Aqsa otherwise the holy mosque
would be common property with no consideration whatsoever to Islamic sanctities,
Abu Shanab concluded.
