No foreign armies in Georgia

President Edward Shevardnadze excluded option of presence at the future in territory of Georgia of armed forces of other states. He declared it on Monday at press conference in connection with beginning of visit to Tbilisi of the Russian vice-Premier Ilya Klebanov, who will carry on negotiations for destiny of military bases of the Russian Federation in Batumi and Akhalkalaki. Edward Shevardnadze called "improbable" the opportunity of achievement of any serious decisions during Ilya Klebanov's visit. As he said, that more precisely basic questions of cooperation with Russia, including military aspects, should find reflection in the new Georgio-Russian "frame" contract preparing now. He noted, that the offer of Russia does is not suitable for Georgia to keep the military bases in Batumi and Akhalkalaki for 15 years more. President Shevardnadze told, that Georgia does not demand that the Russian militarians leaving the country, to leave here engineering and property. The main thing is that the conclusion of the Russian militarians should happen, the President of Georgia has especially emphasized.

Shevardnadze has not bypassed and theme of formation of the cabinet of the country and its future chairman vividly discussed today in Georgia. Edward Shevardnadze informed at the press conference, that the post of the Prime Minister of the government of the country will be occupied by "a known political figure". As he said, in case this figure appears Zurab Zhvaniya, consultations on a nominee which will replace him in the rank of the chairman of parliament, will be carried out and with the chairman of Supreme Soviet of Adjar Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze. At the same time, Edward Shevardnadze noted, that promotion of a nominee on a post of the Chairman of Parliament is appreciably a prerogative of the supreme legislature of the country. As he said, the future Cabinet should be completed with present members of the government of Georgia as these people have also experience of practical work, and the appropriate knowledge. Edward Shevardnadze emphasized, that the control of work of heads of power ministries was and remain a prerogative of the President, And the Prime Minister will be responsible for these departments on other directions. The Head of Georgia emphasized, that during formation of the Cabinet, he is not going to go on any "big concession" and to make serious amendments in the document submitted on Saturday to Parliament.

However, Edward Shevardnadze told, during formation of the Cabinet, some compromises connected to inclusion in structure of the new government of the country of representatives of certain political groups are also not excluded. All these questions, on words of Shevardnadze, will be discussed within one month.

Many observers have noted that fact, that Shevardnadze named Zurab Zhvaniya, the present speaker of the Georgian Parliament, the possible Prime Minister of the country. President of Georgia has actually openly called Head of Adjaria, Aslan Abashidze to receive "share of authority " in Parliament of the country. As far as these courses of Shevardnadze appear effective, will be shown by time. However already today with confidence it is possible to assert, that Shevardnadze began preparation for serious structural reorganization of authority, which, on a plan "old fox " finally should consolidate political elite of Georgia, thirsting for the shares of an imperous pie.
