Corridor - Settlement of "Karabakh issue"

Aliev and Kocharyan in negotiations on Karabakh issue at intermediary of America.

Latest announcements of Minister for Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vardan Oskanyan on Karabakh settlement were subjected to sharp criticism by Chairman of the Party of civil unity (PGE) of Azerbaijan, Igbal Agazade. As he said, these statements are directed only on formation of a public opinion and do not reflect essence of negotiating process on Karabakh. Igbal Agazade asserts that at a meeting of Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Ki West (Florida) was achieved verbal agreement on principles of peaceful settlement of the armed opposition. As the deputy noted, according to these agreements, 6 Azerbaijanian regions will be made independent, including Shusha and 5 adjoining villages, where inhabitants of 56 settlements including Khodjali will be placed. The road of "Molla Nasreddin", connecting Shusha and Fizulinsky area will be restored and handed over to international control. The status of binding corridor is given to Lachin area, where international peace-making forces will be deployed.

From Lachina, according to Agazade, the special road to Kelbajar and region Murovdaga will be opened. The Azerbaijanian side demands creation of a corridor similar to Lachina in territory of Megrin area of Armenia for connection with Nakhichevan AR, however its contours are not determined yet. At the same time, according to leader PGE, the Armenian side does not wish to transfer Megrin corridor to the international peace-making forces, motivating it to be near to Iranian and Turkish borders. Igbal Agazade also informed, that according to jurisdiction of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh is authorized to have national guards and to begin as a free economic zone. Thus under control of the Armenian community will remain Gadrut, Askeran, Khankendi and other 2 areas of former Nagorno-Karabakh autonomous region. The given option, considers Agazade, is not ideal for Azerbaijan, but we accept it as a consensus. "If in Armenia, there will be no change of authority, the oral agreement in negotiations at Geneva can be transferred to a paper, - he declared, - however opponents of Robert Kocharyana can use this issue for his removal from a post of the President ".
