Muscovites go crazy more often
The other day the capital's medical workers summed
up the disease incidence among Muscovites over the last year.
It turned out that dwellers of Moscow got sick in 2000 more often than in
1999.
As "MK" ("Moscow Komsomolets")
was told at the ministry of health of the capital, the total number of diseases
among the adult population comprised 151005 people in absolute values per
hundred thousand population compared o 150808 in 1999.
In the average, 1,5 diseases are registered for each adult Muscovite
annually.
Insignificantly decreased is the spread of
infectious and parasite diseases---from 5420 per hundred thousand population
in1999 to 5194 in 2000, of neoplasm diseases (oncology, etc.)---from 4568 to
4482, of eye diseases---from 10,747 to 10,688, of circulatory system diseases---from
33,611 to 33,373, of digestive system diseases---from 13,434 to 13,078. The number of trauma and poisoning has declined from 10,247
to 10,219.
Women in labor had more problems.
In 2000, 1354 women against 1301 in the year before last suffered from
complication of pregnancy, labor and post-partum period.
Besides that, the incidence of diseases of certain categories increased
last year. To illustrate, the
number of diseases of the endocrine system is rising: from 4467 per hundred
thousand in 1999 to 4594 in 2000.
The incidence of psychiatric disorders increased
from 5440 to 5475. The occurrence
of nervous system diseases increased from 2217 to 2251.
Respiratory system disease incidence ascended from 29,445 to 29,680.
Also, the number of diseases of the urinary-reproductive system rised
from 10,696 to 11,288. The number
of skeletal-muscular system diseases increased from 11,623 to 11,768.
