Russian army is fear-stricken due to brave operations of the mujahideen.
Twenty-seven Russian troops were killed, many others severely injured and two
were captured alive during direct attacks and mine blasts carried out by the
mujahideen.
In
Nozhay-Yurt, mujahideen made a surprise attack on a special guard team of
Russian army and killed four soldiers. In Urus-Martan, a Russian military truck
ran over a landmine leaving 3 soldiers dead on the spot. In Vedno, the
mujahideen carried out a severe early morning attack on Russian troops, which
was followed by a fierce three-hour-long gunbattle. Four Russian troops were
killed and 9 injured.
In
some part of Johar, the Russian army besieged a mujahed's house and hurled
grenades on it. Taking rapid action, the mujahed hurled the same grenades back
on the Russian troops, killing four and injuring about one dozen Russian
soldiers. The mujahed slipped out of the siege safely. After a while, the
Russian troops searched the house and arrested the old mother of the mujahed and
other people in the house.
In
Urus-Martan, mujahideen attacked a military truck, killing more than 12 Russian
soldiers and injuring many others. In Johar, mujahideen attacked a missile
career vehicle, leaving several Russian soldiers dead. In Argun city, the
mujahideen captured 2 Russian soldiers.
