letter of chairman of organization committee of March for peace from Grozny
(Johar) to Moscow Aleksandr Luboslkavski. In his special opened message he informs about forthcoming
action and calls citizens of Russia, Ichkeria and international governmental and
nongovernmental organizations to render support to participants of the March.
“Dear
ladies and gentlemen! On 1 of August of year 2001 at 10 o’clock the March for
peace from Grozny (Johar) to Moscow will starts form bordering with Chechen
Republic stanitsa Ordjenikidzevskaya (Sleptsovskaya), where in Ingushetia camps
of Chechen refugees are located and where from 14 of June of year 2001 permanent
hunger-strike of more than 70 Chechens is taking place.
Length of the march is 2000 kilometers.
The March for peace will last for 70 days.
In world’s March from Grozny (Johar) to Moscow 70 people will take part
in it on first day, among which will be women, elders and children
Peace
dwellers of Chechnya will go without placards to not risk with their lives form
Grozny till Sleptsovskaya. It is
decided that March for Peace to Moscow will take [place at appointed time.
Such decision was taken by participants of hunger strike, which demand to
stop the war and to restore peace in Chechen republic of Ichkeria.
Chechen committee of national rescue, Regional peacemaking organization
“Echo of war” and others supported the action of March for Peace from Grozny
to Moscow.
For
seven years is lasting Chechen-Russian war took away dozens of thousands of
lives. Towns and villages are
destroyed. The population is shot,
robbed, frightened to death, doomed to destruction. Chechens have no place neither on territory of Chechen
Republic nor outside of it. They
are practically and legally deprived of governmental, political, social and
international protection. Only one
right is left for them-to die in hunger strike or in March for peace.
We, participants of Chechen refugees’ hunger strike decided to use this
right till the end. (Chechens
have only one right- to fight or win occupants.
To win or die in that fight. From editorial office of “K-C”).
In
this letter, I, participants of hunger-strike and elected chairman of
organization of committee of March for peace was commissioned to appeal to
citizens of the world, peace making organizations of Russia, international peace
making community with offer of mutual co-operation in achieving peace in Chechen
republic of Itchier, secure safety of its nation. In our long and difficult March we depend on your
active participation and support of participants of the march.
We
are happy to see you in columns of peace March from Grozny to Moscow.
Let Chechen tragedy unite us forever in justice struggle against wars and
violence-for Peace, Freedom and Human Rights.
