Minister
of State Security of Georgia, Vahtang Kutateladze excludes an opportunity of
beginning large-scale military actions from territory of the country. This was
declared by head of MGB in interview with the First channel of state TV, making
comments on the events occurred on Monday, September 24, of the armed conflicts
in territory of Gulripshsky
district
of Abkhazia. Speaking as a whole about accusations sounding from Moscow in
address of Tbilisi supposedly covering Chechen fighters, Vahtang Kutateladze
excluded an opportunity of direct aggression of Russia against Georgia.
«Georgia
did not give and will not give occasions for this purpose», - minister of state
security declared. At the same time Vahtang Kutateladze confirmed, that certain
forces are interested to begin operations in Abkhazia with provocative purposes.
As he said, destabilization in Abkhazia on the hands of those, who are
interested in destabilization of situation in Georgia. It also is related with a
question of conclusion from territory of Georgia of the Russian military bases
and the subject of security of Kodorsky gorge, told Kutateladze.
He
spoke in favor of cooperation with Russian colleagues in a question of detention
and handing over of terrorists investigated in both countries and also noted
necessity of mobilization of work of the Georgian special services in the
population of Kodorsky gorge for prevention of provocations in this region of
Abkhazia, left after war of 1992-1993 years not under control of Sukhumi
authorities.
Coming
back to the incident taking place on Monday, September 24 in Gulripshsky
district
of Abkhazia, Kutateladze told, that there has taken place fight with Abkhazian
of certain groups which as a result has taken in hostages two employees of
militia of republic. According to the minister, now appropriate services of
Georgia are in contact with Abkhazian side for checking of the data on the fact,
that who actually participated in this clash.
At
the same time Vahtang Kutateladze noted, that it is far from idea, that Chechens
took part in that fight. He informed, that in Gal area of Abkhazia deployed a
group, which intended to leave for territory controlled by Georgian side, but
was blocked.
In
the meantime, Defence Minister of Abkhazia, Vladimir Mikamba estimated the
situation in Abkhazia as «very much intense» As declared Mikamba in Sukhumi to
journalists, in connection with events in Gulripshsky
district,
where on Monday there was a clash with offensive group, «divisions of armed
forces of republic undertake measures for blocking Kodorsky gorge» not to allow
penetration of the armed formations there from deep into Abkhazia. Mikamba does
not exclude, that these offensive groups are transferred to Abkhazia with the
help of power structures of Georgia.
The
aggravation of situation in Abkhazia became the reason of that the Prime
Minister of this republic, Anri Jergenia unexpectedly declared, that he arrives
on Friday, September 28 to Tbilisi. Visit of the second person in Abkhazian
leadership to Tbilisi is connected with aggravation of situation in a zone of
the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, which is caused by reports about transfer to
Abkhazia of the Chechen groups from Pankissky gorge, inform Georgian MASS MEDIA.
As
informed in the presidential press-service, Abkhazian Premier on Friday will
receive president of Georgia, Eduard Shevardnadze. The problems, which have
arisen recently in a zone of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, will be in the center of
focus of the first session in Tbilisi planned on October 9 since last half-year
by Coordination council working under aegis of United Nations on Georgian-Abkhaz
settlement.
