these days has launched the real television war in Abkhazia, Deputy Defence
Minister of Georgia, Gela Bezhuashvili considers. As he said, reports
contradicting each other on supposedly large-scale military actions pursue the
purpose to show an alliance of North Caucasian groups with official structures
in Tbilisi. In this context, he considers the widespread announcement on Tuesday
by Russian Mass-Media of Sukhumi Defence Minister, Vladimir Mikamba that «escaped
circles» of North Caucasian groups are going to gather in area of village
Omarishari in controlled by Georgia of the parts of Kodori Gorge.
All
this, on words of Geli Bezhuashvili, is «purposeful disinformation».
As he said, in Abkhazia extremely local clashes have taken place, but Russian
televisions channels in any way have informed about scale operations in this
area. First there was information from Sukhumi, then it was denied, were
frequently shown very much the old staff, and period of some armed actions of
years 1992-1993, told Gela Bezhuashvili in interview with Georgian MASS-MEDIA.
The director of department on public relations and information of the Georgian
Foreign Ministry, Kakha Sikharulidze also declared, that in Tbilisi «already
have exhausted to deny the stream of disinformation» about events in Abkhazia.
In
the meantime, Air Forces of Georgia started scheduled maneuver, which will be
prolonged in East and Western of Georgia within approximately 10 days, deputy
minister of defense, Gela Bezhuashvili informed. On his data, 4 planes of Su-25
took part in doctrines. Gela Bezhuashvili assures that maneuvers are not
connected in any way to local clashes taking place now in Abkhazia. Instruction
has been given to planes Su-25 participating in flights in Western Georgia, not
to violate a safety zone, emphasized Geal Bezhuashvili.
At
the same time, leadership of Abkhazia declares, that it already has carried out
all necessary preparatory mobilization actions, and, in case of support by
Georgian regular units of guerrilla and North Caucasians, Sukhumi will declare

Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba
informed about it to Georgian agency Prime-News, head of foreign political
departments of republic. He said, while there is no necessity to declare
mobilization, as Abkhazian subdivisions «successfully cope» with guerrillas.
He
informed, that investigation is proceeding of group advancing in a direction of
the Russian border towards Maruh pass. Other epicenter of fights, Sergei Shamba
told, are in district of mountain «Saharnaya Golova» and nearby to territory,
where «cleaning» of the area is going on. It is necessary to note, that
Georgian guerrillas repeatedly denied announcements of Abkhazian side about its
besiege and attempts of break. This time, they again denied statements of
Sukhumi about so-called «prosecution of insurgents». Guerrillas declare, that
nobody is going to leave for anywhere. There are local fights, including in
suburbs of Sukhumi, though authorities of Abkhazia categorically deny these
announcements.
Sergei
Shamba told, that Sukhumi leader, Vladislav Ardzinba «operates all processes»
present in Sukhumi. Recently again have appeared reports on relapse of illness
of Vladislav Ardzinba, who passed the course of treatment of vascular system in
summer of present year in Moscow.
