The
consul of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Karachi, Rahmatullah
Kakazada
declared in his interview with Qatari TV channel «Al-Jazeera» about the
destruction in Afghanistan of 70 to 100 American soldiers since the beginning of
the combat operations. The Consul reported that Amir Mullah Mohammad Omar and
Osama Ben Laden did not suffer from the actions of Americans. Furthermore,
according to the data of Afghan command, in the course of the continuous combat
operations in the province of Takhar and in the area of Mazar-e-Sharif,
formations of the armed opposition suffered significant losses.
All
attempts of the formations of Northern alliance to move forward or to strengthen
their positions on the new boundaries encounter decisive actions of Taliban. In
spite of the strong support from the side of USA and Russia, Northern alliance
cannot organize any effective actions. According to the latest information, in
lines of oppositional forces already act American special-subdivisions, which
perform the role of instructors, spies, avian pointers and specialists in the
radio communication.
Meanwhile
security is beefed up in USA in connection with the threat of new terrorist
actions. The country actually passes through the state of siege. In the West of
the country under intensive security are kept four bridges of strategic value
– «Golden gate» and «Bay Bridge» in San Francisco, «Vincent
Thomas»
in Los Angeles and «Coronado» in San Diego. Bridges are kept under intensive
security of the National Guard, traffic police and services of port safety. Such
measures will be prolonged as a minimum until 7th November. The
governor of California, Grey Davis, designates this period as most probable for
the terrorist attacks.

Davis himself in this regard stated: Better preparation, so that terrorists
should understand, that we know that they are close, we are ready», reports «Deutsche
Welle». According to the information of governor, terrorist acts can take place
in the rush hours on any one of the days from 2nd to 7th
November, at least, against one of the indicated bridges. FBI confirms
information about possible terrorist acts on West coast. Special agent, Med Mak
Loblin in his interview with CNN stated that this information was given to FBI
by certain intelligence agency, but its authenticity will be checked.
On
the other side, Taker, Press-Secretary of the Attorney-General,
John Ashcroft, stated that the report about possible terrorist acts in
California is in no way connected with the statement of minister himself, made
on Monday about the threat from the side of terrorists and need for the
increased vigilance. More than all in this history, western sources report, that
pedestrians and cyclists of West coast were facing more inconvenience. Bridge «Golden
gate» was closed for them already on 12 September, and now they were deprived
of three additional bridges.
