Amir of Supreme military Madzhlisul Shura of mujahideen, Khattab gave brief
interview for radio station Kavkaz, which broadcasts to entire Caucasian region.
Interview was broadcasted on Friday. Agency «Kavkaz-Center» offers some parts
of this interview for the kind attention of readers.

How
now is going on operational situation at the fronts?
Khattab:
Fights
are proceeding. Russians suffer losses. They replaced their commander. They
removed Baranov.
Corr.:
And
with what is it connected? Why he was replaced?
Khattab:
Poor
commanding. Badly fought. I think the reason was that we brought down helicopter
in Khankala with 13 Generals and Colonels. In addition to this, mujahideen
conducted very successful operations in Vedeno, Gudermes, Shali, Kurchaloi and
in other places.
Corr.:
But
there were other large-scale combat operations after these events?
Khattab:
Yes,
these were. Two weeks ago, somewhere 24th of October, Kafirs were
directed into the mountains with five hundred units of armored vehicles. In the
misty weather, we arranged minefield for them, at six points. In Gansolchu, we
hit at the vehicles, then a little higher and even we blew up in Yalkhoi-Mokhk,
still several ones in Kurchaloi district. So they left, and could do nothing to
us.

In
the behavior of Russians, is there any change in tactics, and in the methods in
comparison to those in the beginning of war?
Khattab:
Absolutely
nothing changed. Very severely, they behave with peaceful inhabitants and target
them of their anger. They plunder and take away the last piece of bread. Arrests
are occurring. In the recent days, only from Nozhai-Yurt were driven away two
hundred people. They behave as beasts, as two years ago. They will never have
other tactics, because here they saw all, tested everything, and nothing could
help them. It is useless. Now, only this has been left for them - this is the
attempt to completely destroy people, as they always wanted this. This is
vengeance for their weakness and defeat. But, Alhamdulillah, then changed the
relation of peaceful population to these beasts. Here they have adopted their
brutal behavior and dirty tactics of stealing and violence. And people today are
on the side of mujahideen.

Now
again many began to speak about the negotiations. Something has changed in
connection with this?
Khattab:
We
at all don’t speak on this theme. Who wants, let them discuss. We are
mujahideen. We will go on fighting till there is enemy on the Moslem ground.
Thus nothing has changed. Thus for the time being, war is continuing, and we are
conducting operations. There are no negotiations. I think that negotiations -
big game. During a month or two, they could not agree to fix a place for the
meeting, when this question is possible to solve in one hour, this is one
additional proof of this game. And we have no business with these games.

War
in Afghanistan continues. Americans bomb. On television channel «al-Jazeera»,
they show Ben Laden's appearance, who said that UNITED NATIONS is working
against Moslems and it actually destabilize the situation in the world?
Khattab:
One
hundred, thousands of percent, I share this opinion. We need our own UNITED
NATIONS. Islamic one. We have our own religion, customs, and manner of life. We
are a separate culture and civilization. They are not capable of understanding
us. They force us into their democracy. Their democracy is only for them.
Moslems are dying today under their democracy in Bosnia, Chechnya, Pakistan,
Afghanistan, and other places.
Corr.:
Is
it possible to still avoid large war or it is already late?
Khattab:
Large
war against us has long ago been begun, including information. Only now they
began to speak. Their actions are now directed against Shari’ah. But today,
Insha Allah, large changes are expected. Many began to understand the essence of
events. The entire Moslem world is united. In Afghanistan today occur, Insha
Allah, great events. And large changes will be, Alhamdulillah. They never will
remain in the solitude. Americans want to send 50 thousand soldiers for seizing
Mazar-e-Sharif. Wallahi, although they will take this city, although they will
take Kabul, they cannot maintain. Never they can preserve this territory. We are
sure and convinced one hundred percent, Insha Allah, that Afghan people will
have freedom. The desire to live freely is not the decision of Taliban or their
parliament. This is not their concept. This is the requirement of Shari’ah. It
is not from Osama Ben Laden or Mullah Omar. This is from Allah. And it, Insha
Allah, will help them.

In
connection with the last events in Dagestan, I mean, attempts on Amirov, Musayev,
Kammayev, began to mention your and Shamil names. May be, this could be your
order. What do you think in this regard?
Khattab:
This
can say only that person, who spilled the blood of Moslems. This is profitable
for them to represent the matter precisely thus. Now or after war these people
wait for punishment. These are very dirty methods, which they use. These people
know that sooner or later they must pay by the blood for their crimes. Sooner or
later it will happen. We today fight with their masters and we are little busy.
They are slave, in short. They will speak everything they want, and they speak.
They fear. Because they know sooner or later, that they will pay for Karamakhi.
Their time is approaching.
