
Mohsen Davalou
-Born in Tehran in 1921
A self-taught painter-started his career by publishing a publication called
“Karicature-e-Esteghlal”
of which he was the editor-in-chief-Had long worked for political and
non-political publications
in the 1950s and 1960s before he published the first edition of “Caricature”
weekly magazine
in 1967-Always tried to present something different in his journal than
articles published in “Towfig”
popular weekly magazine of the time – he continued publishing his magazine
until 1978,
and during the eleven years of its publication it was a center to gather all
young cartoonists
together-Was also a caricaturist whose caricatures of Khrushchev the
leader of the
former Soviet Union could win and bring the first international prize of
Montreal international
Cartoon Festival, Canada (1963) to our country-Also worked in the world
of painting, designing and producing posters for movie Theater, making theater
decoration, calligraphy, and preparing shop signs-Is known as the “Father of
Modern Cartoon in Iran” by many cartoonists and art assemblies
-Finally passed away on December 25, 1997
