A Brief Report

The preparatory effort for holding this competition got off the
ground early in fall 2003.
The relevant
information dissemination was put into effect through the
internet website of Iranian Cartoon Art, called Iran Cartoon
www.irancartoon.com
Hence, by employing
all potentially effective facilities of the art, the way was
paved for establishing communication needed for the promotion of
intended humanitarian ideals.
The competition,
which is to publicize and put under the spotlight the oppression
suffered by the Palestinian nation, is aimed at informing the
global community of the massage in line with seeking justice for
Palestinian people.
In line with above
ideal, the aforementioned international cartoon competition was
thus named as “ Palestinian are homeless”. In addition to
extending invitation to all parties interested in participating
in competition through the domestic general public printed
press, relevant regulations for exhibitions were made available
to all Iranian and foreign cartoonists through well- know
international websites such as Tabrizcartoon ,Haditoons
,Witty World, FCW, KarComics ,bedaiwi.jeeran ,Amorim
,okcomic , Fanofunny and ....
Web cartoon as well as specialized publications and newspapers.
We are indebted to free of charge cooperation extended to us by
Mr. Joe Szabo, who is in charge of Witty World website, as he
made the invitation appear on the front page of the highly
reputable international website. Among other relevant notable
events is the print of the invitation news on the front page of
two cartoon websites, named HDK in Croatia and “ Karikaturevi
“ of Turkey. The previously announced deadline for final sending
of artistic works, which was May 4, 2004, had to be extended
because of unprecedented enthusiasm displayed by the interested
parties.
All in all, for the
time being some 500 cartoons from 200 Iranian and foreign
cartoonists have been put on show on Iran Cartoon Website and
made available to interested parties to view. What is of immense
interest is that most participants in the exhibition had from
turkey, Brazil and China next to Iran.

41 countries from
all over the world (Albania, Afghanistan, Argentina, Austria,
Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Belgium, Belo-Russia, Iran, Japan,
Kazakhstan, Korea, Indonesia, Italy, Serbia, Palestine, Brazil,
China, Croatia, Cuba, Canada, Egypt, France, Holland, Poland,
Syria, Morocco, Romania, Turkey, Britain, Yugoslavia, Spain,
Nigeria, America, Uruguay, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany
India, hungry, Russia and Ukraine) are among the Participating
countries in the competition.
Jury Panel
Gentleman Such as
Mohammad Rafi Ziae, Javad Alizade, Mohammad Ali Baniassadi,
Mohammed Hossein Niroumand and Massoud Ziae, were among the
Iranian jury members of this round of international cartoon
competition named “Palestinians Are Homeless”. They Passed
judgments on the received works of art on May 29,2004.
There were also four
foreign Cartoonists Among the jury members. Vladimir Kazanevsky
from Ukraine, Carlos Amorim from Brazil, Dachuan Xia from China
and Paolo Dalponte from Italy passed their judgments on the
received cartoons by sending E-mails to Cartoon house, which
served as the secretariat office of the exhibition. Ultimately,
upon a two-staged selection process the following individuals
were chosen as the winners of the competition:
1.Cristobal Reinoso from Argentina
2.Majid Salehi and Mohammad Amin Aghai, joint winners from Iran
3.Cao Gomez from Italy
The jury members had
taken the standards and norms for conformity of exhibition topic
to the conceptual idea imparted by the art works as same into
account informing their judgments.
The jury members,
nonetheless, decided that the following two caricaturists should
be awarded as follows:
1.Shiva Zamanfar from Iran, to receive the special prize
2.Wu Jiang Jun from China to receive the honorable mention
Moreover, it was
also decided that the following four individuals, should receive
the honorable mention for their works as their cartoons had
found their ways to the final judgment process.

Turkey 2.Arif Sateristanto from Indonesia, 3.Enrico La Coste
prince from Cuba, 4.Mahdi Rouzbehani from Iran.
